This webinar is a practical presentation focusing on using quality mentor texts to support key literacy teaching strategies.

Description

This online event will focus on the following key literacy teaching strategies:

· Read Aloud, Think Aloud

· Writing About Reading

· Close Reading

Teachers will have an opportunity to discuss and participate in some practical activities which demonstrate how each of these strategies can be developed using quality mentor texts. An explanation of each strategy will be given together with examples of deliberate instruction based on high quality literature that is used over a series of lessons.

By the end of this event participants will be able to:

  • Use the aforementioned teaching strategies to enhance student engagement in literacy instruction in the classroom
  • Have a clear understanding of what the strategy is and how it enhances comprehension 
  • Collaborate with other educators in implementing teaching strategies in the classroom
